An American angler has emphasised the importance of choosing suitable fishing lures for any fishermen aiming to test themselves against the biggest fish angling has to offer.
Writing for the Norwich Bulletin, Bob Sampson explained that the weather on the other side of the Atlantic can be particularly challenging at this time of year and advised anglers to be prepared to do battle against the elements.
"The key to success in catching big pike is persistence and casting large lures and baits with tackle powerful enough to set the hook into a gristly mouth that's all bone and sharp teeth," he said. "You'll be glad you did."
Mr Sampson added that he has spent years perfecting his own approach and revealed that it really started to pay dividends when he went on an angling trip in the aftermath of a hurricane.
